The Price and Distribution of Goods Act gives the authority for setting the maximum wholesale and retail prices of price-controlled items. Currently, there are ten (10) items that are price controlled.

  • Motor vehicles and specific car parts
  • Cement
  • Fishing equipment: nets, gear, lines, hooks, baits. Twine, wire
  • White gases and liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)
  • Flour
  • Lumber
  • Imported Meats (Chicken)
  • Poultry Feeds
  • Rice (Parboiled)
  • Textbooks (primary and secondary) school paraphernalia

The Price and Distribution of Goods Act outlines the provisions on Trader’s licenses. Under this Act, there should be no trading of goods without a Trader’s License, save and except:

  • The Trader is a Commission Agent or a Transient Trader; or
  • The value of the stock is less than $500.00.

Notwithstanding the aforementioned, Trader’s license attracts an applicable fee based on the stock value and is payable annually as follows:

  • XCD $25.00 – where the stock is valued at more than XCD$1,000.00 but not more than XCD$10,000.00
  • XCD $50.00 – where the stock is valued at more than XCD$10,000.00 but not more than XCD$100,000.00
  • XCD $125.00 – where the stock is valued at more than XCD $100,000.00 but more than XCD $1000,000.00
  • XCD $500.00- where the stock is valued at more than XCD$1000, 000.00.
  1. The application form should be completed in triplicate and a revenue stamp of XCD$5.00 (obtained from the Treasury Department) must be affixed to the application form. At least 48 hours is required for the processing of the license.

  2. Submit applications for the following products to the relevant Ministry/Department or Agency for approval of entry into St. Vincent and the Grenadines before returning the application Forms to Consumer Affairs/Internal Trade Division.
  • For all fish and fish products including canned items, the application form (four copies) must be submitted to the Fisheries Division.
  • For all meat and meat products including canned meat, the application form (triplicate) must be submitted to the Veterinary Division, Ministry of Agriculture.
  • For all fruits and vegetables, the application form (triplicate) must be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture.
  • For all beers and malt beverages, the application form must be submitted to the SVG Bureau of Standards.
