Who we are?
The Internal Trade and Commerce Department through the Consumer Protection Act NO. 12 of 2020 is responsible for the promotion and protection of consumer interests, in relation to the supply of goods and services; and to ensure the protection of life, health and safety of consumers.
Additionally, the Department is responsible for the administration of both the Price and Distribution of Goods Act and the Supplies Control Act. The Price and Distribution of Goods Act provides for the authorization and processing of the Trader’s Licences and the calculation, monitoring and verification of price-controlled items; while the Supplies Control Act regulates the import and export of supplies essential to life.
