The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (GOSVG) fully endorses the statement of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) issued on May 24, 2024, on the United States actions against the Republic of Cuba.
The GOSVG further states:
The right of the Republic of Cuba to exercise territorial sovereignty without international interference as cited in Article 2 (4) in the United Nations Charter. Therefore, the GOSVG re-emphasises its rejection of the unilateral coercive sanctions imposed by the United States of America and the economic, commercial, and financial embargo that affects the lives and livelihoods of thousands of Cubans.
Most recently, the U.S. State Department has listed the Republic of Cuba on a list of countries “allegedly” sponsoring state terrorism. The GOSVG strongly reiterates the call of COFCOR to remove the Republic of Cuba from such a listing which threatens the virtues of sovereignty, international law, and bilateral cooperation.
The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines reaffirms its support for advocacy against the injustice caused by the designation as state sponsor of terrorism.
The GOSVG calls for the end of unilateral coercive measures that violate the human rights of an entire people and undermine their development and welcomes peaceful dialogues to resolve international disputes and uphold the rule of law.
