The Ministry is responsible for coordinating Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' relations with foreign governments, as well as regional and international organizations. It seeks to create opportunities for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the field of foreign trade through the negotiation and monitoring of the relevant agreements and treaties.

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation. The scholarship offers the unique opportunity for nationals of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to pursue higher education at esteemed Swiss Universities.
Chairmanship Handover CDEMA
During the 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Chairmanship of the CDEMA - Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency was formally accorded to Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Present at the ceremony, on the margins of the meeting, were Hon. Philip Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, who is the immediate past chair of CDEMA and Executive Director of CDEMA; Elizabeth Riley.
