Royal Navy personnel from HMS Bangor, based at HM Naval Base Clyde (Faslane) in Scotland, participated in the Sea Bangor Festival in Northern Ireland, representing the vessel and helping to strengthen the City of Bangor’s longstanding ties with the Royal Navy and its proud maritime heritage.

Among the delegation were two Vincentians: Able Seaman (Mine Warfare) Drewmain Scott and Able Rating (Catering Services) Nick Williams.

HMS Bangor was unable to attend the festival as the vessel is currently undergoing repairs and remains temporarily out of service. The ship is a Royal Navy Sandown-class minehunter that has served primarily in the Gulf region.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the United Kingdom continue to share a strong and mutually beneficial relationship through longstanding recruitment programmes administered jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD).

Dr. Christopher Stange, Consul General to Northern Ireland and Deputy Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), used the occasion to express appreciation to the Royal Navy for the professional development opportunities, skills training, and career pathways it has provided to thousands of Vincentians over the years.
