The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is the recipient of two (2) school buses (One Toyota Coaster Bus and One Toyota Hiace Commuter) which were donated from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to Support Student Mobility across the length and breadth of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The buses are used to transport secondary school students from Chateaubelair in the Northwest and Sandy Bay and communities en route to Georgetown in the northeast to the capital city Kingstown. The donations were facilitated through the Ministry of Transport, Works, Land and Surveys, and Physical Planning in 2022 and 2023.
Both buses currently accommodate approximately fifty-two (52) students daily and support students attending the Thomas Saunders Secondary School, the St. Martin’s Secondary School, the St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, St. Vincent Girls’ High School and the St. Vincent Grammar School.
The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines tremendously appreciates the support of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in deepening of bilateral relations and the thrust to advance the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals; particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Indonesia formally established diplomatic relations on 30th November, 1993 and will be celebrating the 30th anniversary in November 2023.
