The Embassy of Japan in Port of Spain, Trinidad, is currently in the process of accepting applications for the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) for the Japanese fiscal year 2022 (1st April, 2022 to 31st March, 2023) for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the areas covering but not limited to the following:
- Poverty Alleviation;
- Public Welfare;
- The Environment and Disaster Risk Management (including climate change adaptation and mitigation, 3 Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) and Waste management);
- Agriculture;
- Primary Health Care;
- Education.
The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance scheme for development projects designed to meet the diverse needs of developing countries such as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The project known as Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) or KUSANONE supports projects proposed by local non-profit organisations including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), schools, hospitals, and local government authorities aimed to benefit the community at the grassroots level.
A ceiling of 10 million Japanese Yen (approximately US$90,000 based on the fixed exchange rate for the fiscal year 2022: 1st April, 2022 – 31st March, 2023) is set for one (1) project for the fiscal year 2022.
Interested organisations/groups are required to submit applications to the Embassy of Japan in Port of Spain, Trinidad no later than 31st March, 2022.
