The Department of Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is charged with the responsibility of managing the international trade affairs including coordinating, facilitating policy formulation and implementation, and the monitoring of trade at the regional and international levels.
This Division facilitates the development of commerce through enforcement of trading standards and the protection of consumers by ensuring that good and services are safe and legal. In addition, the Division is responsible for the traders, import and export licensing regimes and the administration and regulation of price controls under the Price and Distribution Act.
The Division promotes cooperation between the public and private sector, through advocacy initiatives and networking with private sector associations, to increase the competitiveness of business in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It is also mandated to develop policy framework that takes into account national, regional and global developments, which influence the overall strategy for the development of commerce and industry in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
