2013 CONACYT-OAS Scholarship Program
Application Process

The OAS Office of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Department of Economic Development, Trade and Tourism and the OAS Department of Human Development, Education and Culture, in collaboration with the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT),  and  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, through  the Partnership for Education and Training (PAEC),  are pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the 2013 CONACYT-OAS Scholarship Program,  which will offer scholarships for Masters’ or PhDs in the areas of Engineering and Science (please note that this scholarship is for programs conducted on-site in Mexico and is in Spanish only).

All citizens from OAS Member States, with the exception of Mexico, can apply to these scholarships. The applicants should have a minimum academic grade of 8.00 on a scale of 1-10. Also, they should be previously enrolled or accepted in a Mexican University or Institution that is registered at the Programa Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad, (National Program for Quality Graduate Studies) (PNPC).

* Note: Students can apply to any Mexican Institution or Program registered at the PNPC.

The process for selecting CONACYT-OAS scholarship recipients is as follows:

1. Students shall apply for admission directly to the University or Research Centre of their choice, ensuring that it is registered in the PNPC. Each student is responsible for complying with the university or research center’s deadlines and application processes.

2. Each University or Research Center will evaluate and accept applicants to its program.

3. The University or Research Center will then request the student to provide the required additional documentation to present him/her to CONACYT as a scholarship candidate.

4. CONACYT will review the applications presented by the Universities or Research Centers, make a selection of scholarship recipients and inform them.  That is, it is the University or Research Institution that postulated the candidacy to CONACYT.

6. The CONACYT will then send the OAS the selected applications.

7. The OAS will review the applications sent by the CONACYT.

8. The OAS will selected applicants to be assigned additional OAS scholarship benefits and will inform them of next steps.
We kindly ask you to please take into consideration that applications for scholarships will be received by the CONACYT according to the second period of the Calendar for the 2013 National Call for Scholarship Applications, described in PAEC CONACYT-OEA 2013 Convocatoria CONACYT-OEA. However, to apply for additional OAS scholarship benefits, only the applications sent directly by CONACYT before by October 25, 2013  will be considered. Please note that each student is responsible for following up with the Universities or Research Centers regarding their specific deadlines and application processes to make sure that scholarship applications are submitted in a timely manner..
