During his two-day visit to the State, Ambassador Yukata on Monday June 27 held bilateral discussions with Dr. The Hon. Ralph E. Gonsalves, Prime Minister and Senator The Hon. Keisal Peters, Minister of State with Responsibility for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade reaffirming the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between both countries. Further, the Prime Minister and Ambassador discussed the ongoing projects in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines being supported through Japan’s assistance, and the prospects for future projects.

Prime Minister Gonsalves also took the opportunity to congratulate Japan on its election as a Non-permanent Member on the United Nations Security Council and, reaffirmed Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ support towards Japan’s tenure on the UNSC. Ambassador Yutaka also paid courtesy call on Hon. Montgomery Daniel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Works, Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. The Hon. Godwin Friday, Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Rochelle Forde, Speaker of the House of Assembly and H.E. Mr. José Manuel Leyva Ventura, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.

Ambassador Yutaka is an experienced public servant who served extensively within the Japanese Government service, holding three (3) master’s degree in Civil Engineering; Urban and Regional Planning; and, Sea-use Law, Economics and Policies. Ambassador Yutaka is Resident in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with concurrent accreditation to other Caribbean Countries including Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and Suriname.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade welcomes Ambassador Yutaka and looks forward to further deepening the relations between the Governments and People of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Japan. As part of the deepening of relations between both countries, Her Excellency, Andrea Bowman, Ambassador of SVG in Taiwan, will present Letters of Credence to the Emperor of Japan as a Non-Resident Ambassador by August 2022.
