 The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines accredited H.E. Joaquim do Espírito Santo, Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola with residency in Washington D.C., United States of America. On Wednesday March 30, 2022 at a ceremony held at Government House, H.E. Dame Susan Dougan, GCMG, OBE, Governor General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines officially accepted Letters of Credence from Ambassador Espírito Santo.

H.E. Joaquim do Espírito Santo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola presented Letters of Credence to H.E. Dame Susan Dougan, GCMG, OBE, Governor General of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on 30th March, 2022

 

During his 4-day visit to the State, Ambassador Espírito Santo held bilateral discussions with Dr. The Hon. Ralph E. Gonsalves, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr. The Hon. Godwin Friday, Leader of the Opposition and H.E. Mr. José Manuel Leyva Ventura, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba and Dean of the Diplomatic Corp.

Prior to his current post, Ambassador Espírito Santo who has many years of service within the diplomatic service of Anglo, served as Director for Africa, Middle East, and regional Organisations in the Ministry of External relations of Angola. He also served as Minister Counselor at the Embassy of Angola to France, and Minister Counselor and Chargé d' Affairs at the Embassy of Angola to Mexico. Throughout his career Ambassador Espírito Santo has represented Angola as part of several high-level international delegations and in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, including at the African Union and the United Nations.

Ambassador Espírito Santo is an accomplished lecturer, having presented around the world on issues related to African development, peace, and security and is multilingual in speaking Portuguese, French, English, Spanish, and some African languages.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade welcomes Ambassador Espírito Santo and looks forward to the deepening of relations between the Governments and People of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Angola.
