The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade hold primary responsibility for the conduct of foreign policy and for facilitating the implementation of trade policy at the local, regional and international levels. In the exercise of this mandate, the General Administration of the Ministry is required to efficiently control and manage resources at its disposal to coordinate not only programmes at headquarters, but also to provide ongoing supervision and support to the operations of the several representative missions and consulate abroad.

The Ministry is responsible for coordinating Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' relations with foreign governments, as well as regional and international organizations. It seeks to create opportunities for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the field of foreign trade through the negotiation and monitoring of the relevant agreements and treaties.
