Officials from the Global Learners Programme of the Health Education England commenced its recruitment process today of Vincentian Nurses to the National Health Services of the United Kingdom. The recruitment commenced with a general information session at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Trade and Commerce conference room which provided in-depth details to the Nurses. The interview sessions commenced thereafter and will continue throughout the week with over seventy (70) Nurses expected to be interviewed.
Hon. Sir Louis Straker, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce thanked all the applicants who have applied, but reiterated that priority goes to those Vincentian nurses who are currently unemployed. He further encouraged the nurses that will be selected at the climax of the interview sessions to be “Goodwill Ambassadors” to this country and represent Saint Vincent and the Grenadines well to serve in the Health Care of SVG. The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Team from England for being here to conduct the process. He also expressed his thanks to Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Commerce, Mrs. Sandy Peters-Phillips and staff, and to High Commissioner Cenio Lewis and his team for their stalwart efforts and hard work in making such an important initiative a reality.
On December 7, 2018, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Health Education England for the recruitment of Vincentian Nurses to the National Health Services of the United Kingdom. The Memorandum of Understanding allows for co-operation between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the National Health England, for the development of healthcare delivery through the recruitment of nurses. It was signed by His Excellency Cenio Lewis, High Commissioner of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to London, and Ms. Michelle Thompson, Head of the Global Learners Programme at Health Education England.
