A group of medical professionals from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela recently visited St. Vincent and the Grenadines as part of the Governments’ mission to promote and protect the well-being of its citizens.
The group made visits to several health care centres across the country to carry out assessments and pre-selected persons to travel to Venezuela for further medical eye care and surgery. Persons affected by pathologies or eye conditions related to ophthalmology such as cataract and pterygium fleshiness (which is a growth of pink, fleshy tissue on the white of the eye), were particularly selected.
The experts visit was a fulfillment of an agreement signed between the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to implement a vision care program titled Miracle Vision across the island.
