Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Republic of Ecuador has moved one step closer towards strengthening bilateral relations, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Commerce and Information Technology of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Co-operation for the Learning and Perfection of the English Language for Diplomats on Tuesday 24th March 2015 at Cabinet Room.

The MOU was signed by Senator Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, Minister of Foreign Affairs and His Excellency Galo Yepez Holguin, Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador accredited to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The initial phase of the agreement provides for Ecuadorian diplomats to travel to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for a period of six months on a work/study program, which is geared towards understanding the Vincentian culture and the improvement of English Language levels.                       

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Ecuador established relations on 1st August 1989. Recently, both countries have been working assiduously towards the creation of a closer bilateral relationship. Currently, the Republic of Ecuador is assisting Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with the construction of three bridges on the leeward side of the island that were destroyed during the December 2013 floods.
