The new Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Bau-Shuan Ger, formally presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency Sir Frederick Ballantyne, Governor General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, on Friday August 3, 2014.

Ambassador Ger who arrived in the State on September 12, 2014 is a career diplomat with years of experience having served in various top positions in the Republic of China (Taiwan)’s Foreign Ministry. Before assuming the position as ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines he was Consul General to Chicago, in the State of Illinois, United States. 

While presenting his Letter of Credence to the Governor General, Ambassador Ger spoke highly of the warmth of Vincentians and the beauty of the country. He also expressed on behalf of his country, Taiwan’s interest in continuing the longstanding fruitful relations between both countries.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of China (Taiwan) established diplomatic relations on the August 15, 1981. Both countries over the years have shared very close relations. Taiwan has contributed to the enhancement of various sectors in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, namely in the areas of Agriculture, Health, Social Development, Education and Infrastructure.
