Ambassador Rhonda King officially presented her credentials to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon last Friday, September 13th.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Nedra Miguel, deputy permanent representative at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Mission and Marsena Ballantyne, administrative assistant to the mission.  Ambassador King was the only female among seven permanent representatives presenting credentials that afternoon. During a brief meeting with the Secretary General, he welcomed the Ambassador to the United Nations and underscored that he was happy to see another female join the group since there were only 25 female permanent representatives, a small number given that there are 193 Member States. He stressed the need for the advancement of women in leadership roles and spoke of the numerous promotions that occurred in various departments at the Secretariat during his tenure in his attempt to achieve greater gender balance.

Permanent representatives from the Bahamas and Grenada also presented credentials last Friday afternoon.
